Feathered Star

In this class you will take an old favorite quilt pattern and make it easy and precise with foundation paper piecing. The class is both a project and a process class. I will teach you the very best techniques for foundation paper piecing, how you can adapt these techniques to other projects, and you will create a beautiful wall quilt in the process. By increasing the number of stars you could make a full sized quilt if desired.

My goal is to have you construct at least one third of the wall hanging in class so that finishing up will be easy on your own. I'm famous for speding extra time with a class so they can get more done - say in the evening and early morning!

Materials and Cutting Instructions:

NOTE: Use either dark points and medium star or medium points and dark star. Be sure there is enough contrast with the background if you choose medium points.

The fabric amounts above include enough for two borders around the wall hanging but you may wish to use fabrics other than the star fabrics for borders and binding. I have found that often fabrics with some visual texture or tone-on-tone make for the most interesting quilting projects but the dark points in this project are fine either plain or textured. So visual texture is not a "rule". In my own work I have made some with plain points and some with textured. Just keep that as a consideration as you shop for fabric for this wall hanging.
